So I’m back with episode two of the VII Breaths Sunday sessions. It comes a little bit later than expected, nonetheless part two is a pick’n’mix of dirty beats and heavy dubstep rhythms. I haven’t delved into this side of the crates for a minute so it was proper pot luck. I picked a random selection of tunes which I would’ve played during my days in Edinburgh DJing at a club night we ran called Volume.
The night was the brainchild of Alice, Ema, Krishma and myself, in the mid noughties. It was an an exciting time, with so much new music emerging. We created events, closer to a house party atmosphere, giving out free CDs, lollies, ice pops, stickers etc. Collaborating with up-and-coming artists, whilst also shining light on unrecognised talent.
It would be a disservice to glaze over the amazing nights we shared, so my plan is to get the team together and dedicate a whole podcast/post to the Volume era. Alice (Dj Termite) and I were the residents, so perhaps we’ll do a B2B mix, if we can align the moons.
This is an off the cuff vinyl blend that sit very nicely into the “anything (good) goes” of the Volume nights.

Just go with the flow…
